The Rachel Zoe Project: Style from A to Zoe

The hurricane has forced everyone to get out of their homes, open their windows and (gasp!) READ! Yes, the original medium of forcing us to use our imaginations has reemerged in recent weeks for millions of Houston and Texas coast dwellers who have found themselves without power for days and days on in. Between heavy reading, I squeezed in Rachel Zoe’s book from late last year: Style from A to Zoe. The lighthearted, quirky book is a go-to manual of sorts for everything fashionable and glamorous. The overall idea is cute, but it fails in execution. It’s basically a book of lists…things we need, things we can do without, how to decide what fits, how to implement style to your home…too much in one book that, in the end, seems to have said nothing at all.

I am thoroughly enjoying Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project. It’s one of the more “real” fashion reality shows we’ve seen in quite some time (let’s face it:Project Runway and America’s Top Model are a blast to watch, but do we really believe a lot of the conversations?) and Zoe is beyond lovable. The media has painted her to be an evil den mother in recent years, passing out diet pills and pressuring her “girls” to fit into vintage sample sizes.

None of this seems to be the case (can you imagine good ol’ Taylor keeping her trap shut through any of that?!) and we’re finally getting to see Zoe for who she really is, however this really didn’t translate in her book. Sad, but I’m hoping between the Bravo hoop-lah and Zoe’s hope to brand herself like she’s Miley Cyrus, we’ll see more books in the future.

I miss my Zoe!
